Vanilla Latte

Your coffee just got a whole lot easier and tastier with our homemade vanilla latte recipe.

A latte is a deluxe coffee beverage made with 1/3 espresso, 2/3 steamed milk, and a little foam. Adding a flavoring, like vanilla syrup, makes it a vanilla latte. Adding vanilla will create a slightly sweeter version of the classic latte. They can also be served hot and cold. For a lower-sugar, AIP diet-friendly iced version, follow this recipe.

Does a Vanilla Latte Taste Like Coffee?

Flavored coffee drinks, like a vanilla or hazelnut latte or even a caramel cappuccino, are classic coffee drinks that don’t taste much like coffee. The milk and syrup can help ease you into the taste of the coffee without being too strong. Adding flavored syrup can make it a bit sweet, but if you use slightly less syrup, you can find the perfect balance of coffee and sweetness. The type of espresso you use will also affect the coffee taste in your drink.

Blonde Vanilla Latte Vs. Vanilla Latte

The type of espresso you use can also change the taste of your latte. There are two main types of espresso that you can use:

  • Blonde Espresso: Blonde roast is a light roast coffee. This type of espresso is often used in a Starbucks vanilla latte. Blonde roast is roasted at a lower temperature and for less time than other espresso roasts. Blonde roasts have a milder, smoother coffee flavor than a medium or dark roast but can also have a higher caffeine content.
  • Dark Roast: The traditional latte will use a dark roast espresso. This type of espresso is roasted at a higher temperature and longer than blonde espresso. The result is a bold and robust flavor. The strength of this coffee can sometimes overshadow the subtle taste of the vanilla, but for coffee lovers, the taste of coffee will stand out.
