Vanilla Mashed Sweet Potatoes

These vanilla mashed sweet potatoes are an all-time favorite Thanksgiving side. Smooth, premium vanilla, honey, butter, and more are combined with sweet potatoes to create a creamy, subtly sweet mashed sweet potato masterpiece.

Sweet potatoes are a healthier option than traditional mashed potatoes. They are also a great source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals and are slightly lower in carbs. Choosing a more nutritious side dish for those holiday dinners means you can save some room for dessert!

This recipe calls for dairy-free butter and milk. However, you can use regular milk if you would like. These potatoes are gluten-free, corn-free, and perfect for allergy-friendly diets.

How to Make Vanilla Mashed Sweet Potatoes

The ingredients you’ll need to make these potatoes are listed below:

  • 4 pounds sweet potatoes (peeled and cut into 2-inch cubes)
  • 1/2 cup dairy-free butter (regular butter will work too)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk (regular milk okay)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Then, when you have all your ingredients do the following;

  1. Place sweet potatoes in a large pot, and fill the pot with water. Bring water to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer until the sweet potatoes are tender when poked with a fork (about 15 mins).
  3. Drain water.
  4. Place sweet potatoes in a mixer. Add all ingredients. Whisk on high for 3-5 minutes until fluffy.

We hope you love these vanilla mashed sweet potatoes. They are so sweet that you’ll think you’re eating a dessert. They are a special dish and a great way to add some vanillatude to any dinner, but they are especially perfect during the holiday season.
