Eating healthy is something we all try to do from time to time. There are plenty of obvious reasons to focus on eating healthy foods. Many of us reset our health, diet, and fitness goals every January. Regardless of your reasoning for eating healthy, this detox smoothie is a fantastic way to get a serving of various healthy ingredients, including spinach, kale, bananas, chia seeds, and vanilla!
The best part of this detox smoothie is that you can easily add tasty ingredients to make it uniquely you. Let’s take a look at the ingredients we used. It is also great for meal prep, meal replacement, or breakfast on the go.
Green Detox Smoothie Ingredients
Spinach: Spinach is a well-known superfood because it is packed with nutrients and has many health benefits. The leafy green has so many benefits that it’s tough to list them all, but some of the main advantages of spinach are;
- Prevents cancer
- Reduce blood sugar
- Aids bone health
- Aids in weight loss
- Good for your eyes
- Reduces hypertension
- Spinach has anti-inflammatory properties
- It helps relax the body
- Improves brain function
- Boosts immunity
- Creates glowing skin
- Reduces acne
- Has anti-aging properties
- And after all, Popeye, the Sailor Man, loves it, so do you need more convincing?
Kale: Similar to spinach, kale is a superfood that can help you get many vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy diet. Kale can help lower cholesterol, prevent cancer, and help you lose weight.
Bananas: Bananas are high in potassium which can help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Almond Milk: There are many reasons to use non-dairy milk, and almond milk is one of the best and most popular dairy alternatives.
Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are rich in nutrients, good for your skin, improve digestion, aid in weight loss & muscle growth, and are beneficial for heart health.
Peanut Butter: Peanut butter is a good source of protein and will give you the energy to keep going throughout the day. Feel free to use the nut butter of your choice, as peanut butter can be higher in calories than other nut butter.
Alcohol-Free Vanilla: Many bakers prefer pure vanilla extract because the alcohol will burn off when baking. However, for foods that don’t require cooking or baking, many prefer alcohol-free vanilla to avoid tasting alcohol. Like our pure vanilla extract, this vanilla flavor is gluten-free, sugar-free, corn-free, palm oil-free, soy-free, vegan, and great for various restrictive diets.
Make it Your Own
You can also add additional ingredients for added taste and protein. Protein powder will help keep you fuller longer, so you don’t find yourself craving processed foods and snacks throughout the day. You can also add fruit like apples. Ginger or mint will also be great additions to the smoothie.
