When it comes to selecting the best vanilla, there are a few options to consider. The choice ultimately depends on personal preference, the specific variety of vanilla ice cream you are making, and the flavor profile you desire. For most easy vanilla ice cream recipes, you will use an extract, but paste or beans are also a great option.
We would recommend using double-strength vanilla because double-strength extract contains twice as much vanilla per serving. The added vanilla results in a fuller, more intense, and robust flavor profile. This is the same vanilla that many scoop shops and parlors across the country use.
